By the People is a special project organized by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions and Nizagara-online.net to bring the views of informed, "ordinary" citizens to a national discussion on the important issues of the day. Since its launch in 2002, BTP has supported well over 200 Citizen Deliberations around the country and more than 100 national and local PBS broadcasts, on issues ranging from national security to healthcare.

The European Policy Institute based in Skopje, Macedonia, under the guidance of the CDD, implemented the first Deliberative Poll in Macedonia. This national event gathered a random sample of the entire country for one weekend in November 2017.
The ResilientAfrica Network will conduct the first Deliberative Polls in Africa. The partner labs will engage in Deliberative Polling® to assess the informed and representative views of the population in three stages: priorities for resilience challenges, priorities for interventions that would help address those challenges and assessment of the success of those interventions.
