The Power 2010 Deliberative Poll took place January 9th - 10th in central London. A scientific sample of the UK provided by YouGov were brought together to discuss the proposals for democratic reform submitted by members of the public, producing a shortlist to be put to the public vote.
The Deliberative Poll has been used for policy making purposes by administrative bodies in America and Europe as a way to hear well informed citizens' opinions, something that conventional polls cannot achieve. The Kanagawa deliberation on Federalism reform is Japan's first attempt.

The Institute of Sociology and Social Policy of the Corvinus University of Budapest conducted a Deliberative Poll in the summer of 2008 in Kaposvár, Hungary. The topics were employment, job creation and the employment policy of the European Union. The Hungarian deliberation revealed informed opinion about unemployment.
Is there a critical housing shortage in San Mateo County? If so, what should be done about it? A scientific sample of county residents recently participated in a Deliberative Poll® sponsored by Threshold 2008, a coalition of civic groups in the county. The weekend sample of 238 participants considered competing policy options, became more informed about them, questioned competing experts and by the end of the weekend, changed their views. The Deliberative Poll®, conducted as part of a Countywide Assembly on Housing Choices, was hosted by Cañada College on the weekend of March 15-16, 2008.

Could those deliberations contribute to a more informed community, to better democratic processes, and to the strengthening of the work of preparing undergraduates to be informed, engaged citizens?
The Deliberative Polling® project in Zeguo township, Wenling City, allowed a scientific sample of ordinary citizens of China to deliberate about which infrastructure projects would be funded in the coming year.
